You are to create an explanatory diagram to explain to your audience a concept related to your chosen sport or hobby. An example could be to explain how to play a specific cricket shot or perform a particular skill related to your hobby.
Here are the steps you should follow to create your diagram.
1. Choose the concept that you wish to explain to your audience. (eg. How to play a square cut shot in cricket.)
2. List all the steps involved in the process in order.
3. Combine any of the steps in the process that you can show in one illustration. (Try to minimise the steps to 6 or 8.)
4. Now take photos demonstrating each step of the process using a digital camera. Make sure that you take images that demonstrate the step of the process clearly to the audience. Crop out any information that is not necessary in the image and zoom in an enlarge areas that need to be emphasised.
5. Now that you have each of your photographs import them into Adobe Photoshop and manipulate them using appropriate tools to make illustrations from them. They should look like illustrations on completion not photos.
6. Now use either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to create the layout of your diagram taking into consideration the design principles and elements. Your Diagram should fit into an appropriate screen format for your multimedia presentation. (1024 x 764 pxls)
7. Create a clear, precise title for your diagram that summarises what your diagram is about.
8. Add narration to the steps of your diagram if needed to support the communication of your diagram. Make sure the narration is not lengthy.
Design Principles:
The design principles are the principles we use to place text and images on a page to create a pleasing, clear design for our audience.
Use the following design principles to create layouts for your diagram.
Balance - both symmetrical and assymmetrical.
Hierarchy - display information in order of importance.
Cropping - crop images so that you display the most important information in an image.
Contrast. Relationships between image and text.
